Very Berry Scones - A Winter's Perfection

 Mix:
1 cup white flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup chopped chilled butter

Then add:
3/4 cup of milk
1 egg

1 cup of  fresh blueberries
1 cup of  fresh raspberries
1/2 cup of white chocolate chips

Topping:
sliced almonds
sugar

Mix together all dry ingredients, cream in butter with fingers, add milk, egg, berries and chips, mix and spoon out on ungreased cookie sheet, sprinkle with sugar and sliced almonds, bake for 20 minutes at 375 F (190 C) and enjoy! Makes approximately 8 muffin sized scones.

To make a savory scone feel free to cut out the berries and topping, add some rosemary, and substitute berries for cheese. Likely just 1 c. of cheddar will suffice!
